Mun Yee Cheong
Registered Relationship & Family Counsellor (CMSAC, RC)Mun Yee is a clinical member and registered counsellor of Singapore Association of Counselling and has more than a decade’s experience in both social services and private practice. She holds a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Edith Cowan University. Mun Yee is a certified Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P) Trainer from the University of Queensland and a certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist from the Grief Recovery Institute. She is also accredited by Workforce Development Agency Singapore as an Advanced Certificate & Training Assessment (ACTA) trainer, assessor, and developer. Mun Yee is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
During her years in social services, she has seen a wide spectrum of family and relational issues, ranging from husbands and wives with young children who are in the midst of or contemplating divorce, parent-teenager relationship, mental health, and even family violence. This includes communication, finances, in-laws, infidelity and parenting issues intertwined with marital issues.
As a counsellor, she is dedicated to helping individuals and families strengthen their relationships and navigate through life’s numerous challenges. She recognises the importance of ongoing attention and effort idedicated n a marriage in order for a marriage to thrive. Her expertise lies in helping couples prepare themselves as couples embark on their journey through marriage with patience, self-reflection and open communication. She helps couples break down these barriers and encourage open conversations about the realities of relationships to help couples feel supported and empowered.
Mun Yee is empathic, compassionate non-judgemental and patient in her counselling approach with clients. As every family and relationship is unique, she tailors her therapy approach in her work with couples. Her work is informed by Attachment theory, trauma, grief, systemic theory, Family Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy (completed levels 1 and 2) and Emotional Focused Couple Therapy. These qualities and evidence-based modalities have helped support and guide couples overcome challenges, build resilience and strengthen their bonds with one other.
